About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Design, standardize, and strategically enhance compute platforms, including virtualization, x86 server infrastructure, and management systems
Conduct technical assessments, reviews, and audits, and derive optimization measures for performance, availability, scalability, security, and automation
Advise and share knowledge across the IT organization on architecture, automation, and operational standards
Further develop the GitOps- and Infrastructure-as-Code-based operations platform
Develop automation and self-service solutions using Ansible, PowerCLI, Python, PowerShell, and REST APIs
Implement, administer, and further develop compute infrastructure across zones
Ensure secure, stable, and highly available platform operations
Plan, execute, and document disaster recovery and business continuity measures
Conduct capacity, performance, and availability analyses
Analyze and sustainably resolve complex incidents
Contribute to incident, problem, and change management, including 3rd-level support and 24/7 on-call duty
Take responsibility for the stable operation and continuous enhancement of highly available on-premises compute platforms at 50Hertz

Requirements

What you’ll need

Completed degree or vocational training in computer science, business informatics, or a comparable field
Several years of experience designing, operating, and enhancing compute, virtualization, and infrastructure platforms
In-depth knowledge of IT architecture and platform design
Extensive experience with VMware environments and x86 server hardware
Experience with performance, capacity, and lifecycle management for compute platforms
Deep understanding of Infrastructure as Code (IaC), GitOps, and modern automation concepts
Practical experience with Python, PowerShell, Ansible, PowerCLI, and REST APIs
Knowledge of backup, restore, disaster recovery, security, compliance, and governance requirements
Very good German skills (C1) and good English skills (B2)
Independent and proactive working style
Experience in vendor, license, and contract management is an advantage
NetApp and VMware management certifications are an advantage
