About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements, including customer, vendor, partner, licensing, SaaS agreements, NDAs, and other day-to-day contracts
  • Collaborate with business teams to standardize contract forms, templates, and playbooks and increase deal-execution efficiency
  • Assist with management and implementation of Elite’s compliance program, policies, and procedures
  • Advise commercial and product teams on compliance and regulatory matters
  • Advise the business on privacy and data-security law and applicable laws, regulations, rules, and industry standards
  • Advise on legal and risk issues related to AI development and use, including emerging AI laws and regulations
  • Help shape internal AI-use policies
  • Identify, evaluate, and champion AI and legal-technology tools, including contract lifecycle management and AI-assisted drafting and review
  • Support general corporate matters, including corporate governance and intellectual property
  • Perform other duties supporting department and company goals
  • Report to the General Counsel

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school and active bar membership in good standing
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience practicing law, in-house and at a law firm, with a strong background in commercial contract drafting and negotiating, compliance and privacy
  • Prior in-house experience within the SaaS or technology industry required, including at least 3-4 years in-house
  • Genuine interest in artificial intelligence and willingness to experiment with generative AI tools
  • Comfortable learning and adopting new technology and legal tech platforms quickly, with an eye toward automation and process improvement
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to convey complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders
  • Sound judgment and a practical, business-minded approach to managing legal risk
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to evolving business priorities
  • Ability to travel up to 10% as business needs require
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States; Elite does not provide employment sponsorship
  • Sedentary physical capacity, primarily desk/computer work
