About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and risk assessments
- Diagnose mental health and behavioral health conditions
- Develop individualized treatment plans with clients and care teams
- Prescribe, monitor, and adjust psychotropic medications
- Provide medication education and supportive counseling
- Order and interpret labs or diagnostic tests as appropriate
- Maintain timely, accurate, and compliant clinical documentation
- Provide crisis intervention and safety planning when necessary
- Collaborate with therapists, case managers, and medical providers
- Participate in interdisciplinary case consultations
- Coordinate referrals and continuity of care
- Communicate with clients, families, and external providers
- Adhere to clinic policies, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements
- Maintain HIPAA compliance and client confidentiality
- Support quality improvement initiatives and outcome tracking
- Participate in staff meetings and clinical supervision as required
Requirements
What you’ll need- Active and unrestricted Florida APRN license
- Board Certification as Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC)
- DEA registration and eligibility to prescribe controlled substances
- Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited program
- Current BLS certification (if applicable)
- Experience with outpatient psychiatric care preferred
- Experience working in community mental health or integrated care preferred
- Familiarity with diverse populations and trauma-informed approaches preferred
- Comfort with Telehealth platforms and EMR systems
- Bilingual abilities preferred but not required
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
- Use of computer and EMR systems
- Ability to manage emotionally complex clinical situations
