About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support various aspects of the safety department, including hazardous materials handling, hazardous waste operations, safety hazard surveillance rounds, and the employee fit testing program
  • Provide physical support across the Elliot Health System for manual hazardous-waste tasks, including collecting, sorting, packaging, and shipping
  • Attend annual training and act as a back-up Hazardous Waste Coordinator
  • Conduct scheduled audits of hazardous-materials and waste storage
  • Conduct general hazard surveillance rounds
  • Attend the Hazardous Materials and Waste Sub-committee
  • Attend activities related to and provide physical support to the DECON team
  • Complete and document assigned environmental audits
  • Complete scheduled and ad-hoc sharps collection throughout the hospital and Rivers Edge locations
  • Collect non-hazardous and hazardous pharmaceutical waste
  • Complete compressed gas cylinder distribution rounds
  • Remove lab and pharmacy hazardous waste and provide back-up collection preparation for shipping
  • Audit and package universal waste for pickup according to regulatory requirements

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required
  • Two (2) plus years of experience in Environmental related field in healthcare or similar environment preferred
  • Valid NH Driver’s License required
  • Knowledgeable in infection Control Principles, Bloodborne Pathogens, and Chemical Safety required
  • Basic computer knowledge for data entry required
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently under pressure
  • Ability to provide superb customer service to all departments
  • Ability to multitask
