About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead recurring accounting and advisory engagements for manufacturing and distribution customers, overseeing engagement teams, scope, timelines, risks, and deliverable quality.
- Serve as a key point of contact for day-to-day accounting, finance, operational, and advisory matters.
- Serve as a trusted advisor on NetSuite accounting operations, reporting structures, workflows, system configuration, and process optimization.
- Maintain understanding of customers’ operations, inventory flows, cost structures, strategic objectives, and engagement economics.
- Maximize NetSuite functionality across financial reporting, inventory, purchasing, costing, and operational processes.
- Identify opportunities to improve reporting, automation, dashboards, and workflows within NetSuite.
- Lead internal and external meetings, communicate engagement progress, escalate issues, and support invoicing and communication with engagement leaders.
- Use technology, AI, automation tools, and data analytics to improve service delivery, reporting, documentation, and customer outcomes.
- Identify customer needs, process gaps, and potential service opportunities.
- Advise on inventory accounting processes, inventory controls, and cost accounting considerations.
- Review inventory reconciliations and rollforwards, reserves, cycle count results, physical inventory procedures, and related financial reporting support.
- Support costing approaches, landed cost allocations, overhead considerations, and cost of goods sold analysis.
- Support monthly and annual close processes and financial reporting by reviewing financial statements, workpapers, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Prepare and review financial reports, budget-to-actual analyses, cash flow forecasts, and management reporting packages.
- Advise customers on budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and working capital optimization.
- Analyze financial, operational, inventory, and KPI trends to identify risks and process improvement opportunities.
- Support process improvement, system optimization, implementation, integration, automation, AI, and data analytics initiatives.
- Supervise, coach, mentor, train, and provide developmental feedback to seniors, consultants, and staff.
- Promote collaboration, accountability, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement within engagement teams.
- Coordinate work across domestic and overseas resources when applicable.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 6+ years of public accounting and industry experience, preferably a combination of both.
- Experience serving manufacturing, distribution, or other inventory-intensive businesses.
- Strong understanding of US GAAP, financial statements, general ledger accounting, reconciliations, internal controls, and financial reporting.
- Strong project management, communication, relationship-building, and follow-through skills, with the ability to manage multiple engagements and shifting priorities.
- Experience supervising, coaching, training, and reviewing team member work.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel and Copilot capabilities.
- Experience with NetSuite required.
- CPA or CMA certification preferred.
- Experience with manufacturing, distribution, wholesale, consumer products, or other inventory-intensive businesses.
- Experience with accounting systems, including QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Enterprise, and inventory-focused applications (Fishbowl, Cin7, and Katana).
- Experience supporting budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, working capital optimization, and other Controller or CFO advisory initiatives.
- Regularly required to remain in a stationary position; use hands repetitively to operate standard office equipment; and talk or hear, both in person and by telephone.
- Required to have close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Use written and oral communication skills; read and interpret data, information, and documents; observe and interpret situations; work under deadlines with frequent interruptions; and interact with internal and external customers.
