About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Oversee the tax preparation and technical review process for complex closely held businesses in the construction industry
- Advise on tax consulting matters and ensure compliance with state and federal tax regulations
- Lead the tax team and identify, research, and resolve complex customer tax issues
- Delegate and manage tax assignments and perform administrative duties
- Train, support, supervise, motivate, and review the tax team’s work
- Develop and sustain excellent customer relationships
- Consult on various tax matters and communicate engagement progress, problems, and resolutions to customers
- Monitor engagement economics, including billing and collections
- Collaborate cross-functionally to grow existing business and offer business solutions
- Develop and grow business networks to attract new business
- Expand technical knowledge and pursue professional development
- Hold self and others accountable for business development goals
- Recruit, develop, and motivate team members and create pools of ready-now leaders
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Law
- Master’s degree in Tax/LLM in Tax preferred
- 5+ years of recent public accounting firm experience working with construction and closely held businesses, including managing multiple projects and customer engagements
- EA License, or CPA certification required
- Project/team management skills
- Excellent communication and networking acumen
- Ability to manage and grow strong customer relationships
- Strong experience with corporate tax accounting
- Experience with tax software and technology
- Ability to multitask along with demonstration of commitment to continuous learning
