About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead, develop, and support the Finance and Accounting team
  • Mentor and coach team members and support professional growth
  • Foster collaboration and communication across Finance and Accounting and other departments
  • Evaluate and optimize financial systems, tools, and workflows
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to leadership for strategic planning and decision-making

  • Manage month-end close, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation and delivery
  • Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting under GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards
  • Oversee the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processes
  • Develop and manage organizational budgets and financial forecasts with the Director of Finance and Administration
  • Monitor financial performance against budget
  • Assist with financial modeling and scenario analysis
  • Ensure financial oversight of grants and compliance with funding requirements
  • Oversee cash flow planning and management
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory, tax, and audit requirements
  • Lead audit preparation and facilitation
  • Identify and address financial risks and maintain strong internal controls

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting or financial management
  • At least 2 years in a leadership role overseeing finance or accounting teams
  • Experience leading and mentoring finance or accounting teams
  • Experience in nonprofit financial management, including compliance, audits, and financial reporting (IRS Form 990, GAAP, FASB)
  • Strong budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management skills
  • Experience building, improving, and managing financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and financial reporting
  • Proficiency in financial systems, accounting software, and ERP systems
  • Familiarity with Sage Intacct is a plus
  • Strong internal controls knowledge to prevent fraud and ensure financial integrity
  • Ability to prepare and present financial reports to leadership and boards
  • Experience optimizing financial systems, improving processes, increasing efficiency and transparency, and strengthening internal controls
  • Ability to translate financial data into actionable insights
  • Skilled at working across departments to align financial practices with organizational goals
