About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Design, build and secure high-performance, scalable RESTful APIs for React Native and PWA frontends
Write clean, maintainable PHP code following modern OOP practices and architectural patterns
Structure, optimise and maintain relational databases with efficient query performance and data integrity
Integrate backend services with third-party APIs, payment gateways and external web services
Implement data protection, authentication using OAuth and JWT, and authorisation protocols while optimising performance
Write automated unit and integration tests to ensure stability and prevent regressions
Collaborate closely with frontend and DevOps engineers to deliver secure, scalable and reliable cloud-hosted services

Requirements

What you’ll need

3+ years of professional backend development using modern PHP (PHP 8.x or later)
Strong hands-on experience with the Slim or Symfony frameworks
Deep knowledge of MySQL or PostgreSQL, including complex queries, indexing and schema design
Proven track record building and documenting RESTful endpoints, including authentication, pagination and error handling
Proficiency with Git, Composer and package management tools
Experience with Redis, Memcached or RabbitMQ is desirable
Basic understanding of AWS environments (EC2, RDS) to collaborate with DevOps is desirable
Familiarity with Docker for local development and containerised environments is desirable
Ability to work in Limassol, Cyprus
