About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Develop and maintain backend services and APIs using Python and Flask
Understand the behaviour of an existing, complex application and build new features without impacting what already works
Design and implement asynchronous processing and background job workflows using Celery and RabbitMQ
Work with MongoDB and process data using Pandas and NumPy
Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve application issues
Maintain code quality through automated tests, pull requests, and code reviews
Maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions
Collaborate with product, frontend, and DevOps teams to deliver end-to-end solutions
Use GitHub Copilot and other AI tools to work more effectively
Fill documentation gaps and contribute to technical best practices
Take ownership of a business-critical Python platform and help it grow

Requirements

What you’ll need

4+ years of professional software development experience, with Python as your main language
Solid knowledge of Python, from the fundamentals to more advanced concepts
Hands-on experience building REST APIs with Flask
Experience with background jobs and asynchronous processing using Celery and a message broker such as RabbitMQ
Hands-on experience with MongoDB, ideally through PyMongo
Experience writing automated tests and making safe changes in large, existing codebases
Comfort working with Git and GitHub, pull requests, and CI/CD pipelines
Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams
Professional working proficiency in English
Location requirement: based in Latvia, Riga
