About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Prepare and deliver internal and external financial reporting for Empower's insurance companies, separate accounts, and/or mutual funds
  • Collaborate with U.S.-based colleagues
  • Prepare reporting under U.S. GAAP, IFRS, or U.S. Statutory accounting standards
  • Prepare investment company financial reporting
  • Run queries from the investment reporting database
  • Use financial statement software
  • Prepare financial reporting support in Excel and/or Word
  • Perform variance analysis and investigate explanations for variances
  • Learn and apply changes to financial reporting and accounting regulations and disclosure requirements
  • Provide financial statement audit support
  • Follow departmental policies and procedures and draft desk procedures
  • Execute internal controls and complete evidence of execution
  • Configure financial reporting systems and test system upgrades
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Minimum 2 years of financial reporting experience
  • Public accounting experience preferred
  • Investment experience preferred
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office (Excel)
  • Proficient in MS Access
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to proactively identify improvements in work product/processes
