About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Oversee and review U.S. Statutory (NAIC), U.S. GAAP, regulatory, tax and/or Board accounting and financial reporting for Separate Accounts of the Insurance Company, subsidiaries and affiliates
  • Manage staff preparing and reviewing quarterly and annual statutory NAIC state financial reporting, supplements, annual audited financial statements and VSA accounting
  • Oversee investment presentation in quarterly financial statements
  • Research and propose disclosures and report modifications in response to new pronouncements, guidelines and investment types
  • Interpret authoritative pronouncements and guidelines for accounting and reporting implications
  • Recommend changes to accounting systems and information presentation
  • Oversee process improvements and system enhancements supporting accounting and reporting initiatives
  • Oversee new processes and project implementation
  • Oversee investment audits and explain the Company’s position
  • Manage design and implementation of controls for accounting and financial reporting processes
  • Maintain an effective control environment by mitigating and remediating control compliance issues

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, related field, or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of financial reporting experience required
  • Advanced MS Office skills, including Excel, Access and PowerPoint
  • 3–5 years of supervisory experience preferred
  • Public accounting or investment-related financial reporting experience
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. Statutory (NAIC) and/or GAAP accounting principles
  • Previous experience in investments strongly preferred
  • Strong technical and analytical skills with effective written and verbal communication
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Ability to apply creative thinking to improve business processes and internal controls and follow through from design through implementation
  • Attention to detail, analytical acumen and excellent organizational skills; ability to handle and prioritize multiple competing priorities
  • Self-driven; able to deal with ambiguity and willing to learn and take on additional responsibilities
  • Proficient in MS Office, including advanced Excel skills
  • Process improvement mindset
  • Experience using Alteryx and Wings annual statement software is a plus
  • Must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.; employment visa sponsorship is unavailable, including CPT/OPT
  • Must have reliable high-speed internet with a wired connection and an adequately equipped home workspace for remote work
