About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Drive and implement a comprehensive test strategy using appropriate testing tools and techniques
- Design and deliver quality tests and automated data-testing scenarios
- Develop testing solutions using Python, ETL, SQL, and other technologies as required
- Facilitate knowledge transfers to other testers within the department
- Work with BSAs and developers to understand and define system requirements and acceptance criteria
- Assess software impact on other system areas and identify requirements gaps
- Define testing scope, including systems integration and regression testing
- Apply test techniques to ensure test coverage
- Collaborate with development to maintain automated tests spanning unit, integration, and user journey testing
- Identify, create, and maintain test data
- Conduct continuous exploratory and manual testing across web service and user interface layers
- Check screen, file, and database outputs for system effectiveness
- Establish comprehensive test strategies for performance and load testing
- Ensure team processes meet quality standards and champion improved practices
- Review team members’ outputs and maintain standards across the team
- Demonstrate working functionality and user stories to product owners and during team showcases
- Provide input into user story points and estimates
- Establish collaborative relationships across teams to support project test phases
- Anticipate problems, forecast high-risk software areas, and drive resolution
- Provide test-result updates to management
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent related experience
- Five plus years’ experience in a QA/Testing technical role
- Proven track record of testing software developments in a structured environment
- Experience of defect lifecycle and advising on tests after fixes
- Understanding of test levels from unit tests to UAT
- Sound technical skills and understanding of application servers, databases, and web services
- Understanding of basic programming constructs
- Experience with test frameworks and scripting automated functional tests
- Experience working on user stories and defining clear acceptance criteria
- Good experience in API and Microservices testing
- Good experience in Functional Testing, End-to-End, Regression, and Smoke Testing
- Experience working in an AWS environment preferred
- Experience creating test cases using GitHub Copilot preferred
- Accessibility and security testing experience is a value add
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong self-motivation, organization, attention to detail, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to comprehend project goals and requirements, identify gaps and testing impediments
- Ability to collaborate with development, business analysis, project management, and SME disciplines
- Ability to forecast high-risk areas and drive resolution
- Ability to provide timely and meaningful test result updates to management
