About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Drive and implement a comprehensive test strategy using appropriate testing tools and techniques
- Design and deliver quality tests and automated data-testing scenarios
- Work closely with BSAs and developers to understand and define system requirements and acceptance criteria
- Assess the impact of software changes on other areas of the system and identify requirements gaps
- Define testing scope, including systems integration and regression testing, and apply test techniques for coverage
- Collaborate with development to build automated tests spanning unit, integration, and user-journey testing
- Identify, create, and maintain test data
- Perform continuous exploratory and manual testing across web service and user interface layers
- Check screen, file, and database outputs to ensure system effectiveness
- Establish comprehensive strategies for performance and load testing
- Ensure team processes meet quality standards and champion appropriate new practices
- Review team-member outputs and maintain standards across the team
- Demonstrate working functionality and user stories to product owners and during team showcases
- Provide input into user-story points and estimates
- Facilitate knowledge transfers to other testers
- Establish collaborative relationships with other teams to ensure successful project test phases
- Anticipate problems, forecast high-risk areas, drive resolution, and provide test-result updates to management
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent related experience
- Five plus years’ experience in a QA/Testing technical role
- Proven track record of testing software developments in a structured environment
- Experience of defect lifecycle and advising on tests after fixes
- Ability to adapt to changing requirements and priorities at short notice
- Excellent understanding of test levels from unit tests to UAT
- Ability to improve project practices and processes
- Understanding of application servers, databases, and web services
- Understanding of basic programming constructs
- Experience with test frameworks and scripting automated functional tests
- Experience working on user stories and defining clear acceptance criteria
- Good experience in API and Microservices testing
- Experience in Functional, End-to-End, Regression, and Smoke Testing
- AWS environment experience preferred
- Experience creating test cases using GitHub Copilot preferred
- Accessibility and security testing experience is a value add
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong self-motivation, organization, attention to detail, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to identify requirements gaps, testing challenges, and impediments
- Ability to establish collaborative relationships with other teams
- Ability to forecast high-risk software areas and drive resolution
- Ability to provide timely test result updates to management
