About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead technical due diligence and development activities for wind, solar, BESS, and natural gas generation projects
- Exercise technical judgment and endorse project layouts, energy performance, equipment selection, constructability, and operational considerations
- Develop and enhance asset specifications, design standards, and technical requirements
- Incorporate lessons learned, emerging technologies, and industry best practices
- Develop conceptual designs, design basis documents, execution strategies, performance expectations, and technical requirements
- Advance projects through Enbridge's stage-gate development process
- Identify, assess, and mitigate technical risks
- Support project screening, economic evaluations, business cases, and investment recommendations
- Collaborate with Business Development, Engineering, Major Projects, Supply Chain, and Operations
- Ensure designs and execution strategies meet operational, maintenance, health, safety, and environmental requirements
- Prepare technical specifications and scopes of work for engineering, procurement, and construction providers
- Provide technical input throughout project development and execution
- Build and maintain relationships with developers, consultants, OEMs, EPC contractors, industry associations, and stakeholders
- Represent Enbridge at industry events and stakeholder engagements as required
- Travel throughout North America to support projects, stakeholder engagements, and industry events
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in the power sector
- Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Canada, per applicable jurisdiction; US applicants preferably have a PE
- Experience advancing complex projects through development and construction phases
- Experience supporting development or technical evaluation of wind, solar, BESS, and natural gas projects
- Experience developing standards and specifications across multiple generation technologies preferred
- Technical expertise in natural gas generation, including self-power and simple-cycle generation
- Experience with equipment selection, performance modelling, costing, optimization, and layout design
- Experience with gas power plant modelling tools such as Thermoflex or AxsCYCLE
- Advanced Excel-based analysis is an asset
- Ability to assess scenarios and risks, manage competing priorities, and deliver results
- Experience working across multiple disciplines and presenting execution plans, technical recommendations, and risk assessments to senior leadership
- Initiative, innovation, leadership, process improvement, documentation standardization, and ability to apply new concepts
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and confidential, highly visible work
- Ability to travel throughout North America
- Final candidates may be required to undergo security screening, including a criminal records check
