About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide technical leadership for Power Operations’ performance data and analytics platform supporting the wind and solar fleet
- Serve as subject matter expert for the Microsoft Fabric analytics environment, Power BI solutions, and third-party APM application
- Establish data modelling, calculation, reporting, and governance standards
- Design, develop, and enhance data pipelines, lakehouses/warehouses, semantic models, calculation logic, dashboards, reports, and APM functionality
- Manage data quality and integrity, troubleshoot issues, maintain documentation, coordinate platform and vendor releases, support users, and integrate new sites and technologies such as battery storage
- Partner with Operations, Asset Management, Engineering, Finance, Commercial, TIS, and external vendors to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions
- Prioritize enhancements across stakeholder groups
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to analysts, engineers, engineers-in-training, and co-op students
- Monitor emerging technologies and industry practices through engagement with OEMs, service providers, consultants, and industry peers
- Identify opportunities to improve fleet reliability, performance, and cost effectiveness
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in engineering; preferably in computer science, data science, or a related field
- 7+ years of relevant experience in data engineering, analytics, or business intelligence
- Hands-on development experience with Microsoft Fabric or the Azure data platform
- Strong Power BI expertise, including semantic modelling, DAX, Power Query, dashboards and reporting, workspace governance, deployment pipelines, and row-level security
- Proficiency in SQL and Python or PySpark
- Understanding of data governance, data quality management, Git/version control, and development-to-production release practices
- Experience with APM applications, SCADA or PI Historian data, and Microsoft certifications is an asset
- Ability to translate business requirements into practical technical solutions, influence stakeholders, lead technical decisions, and mentor others
- Strong organization, attention to detail, clear communication, independent prioritization, and ability to deliver in a fast-paced environment
- Experience in wind, solar, battery storage, or the broader power generation industry is an asset
- Legally authorized to work in Canada without employment-based sponsorship now or in the future
- Ability to travel throughout Canada
- May be required to undergo security screening, including a criminal records check
