About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead electrical design for facility expansion and maintenance capital projects delivered by third-party engineering firms
- Develop electrical project scopes, schedules, capital cost estimates, execution plans, risk assessments, and supporting project-development information
- Ensure electrical facilities comply with regulatory, environmental, health and safety requirements, industry codes, and Company standards
- Oversee third-party engineering firms and manage electrical design deliverables against approved budgets and schedules
- Review and approve drawings, technical reports, material lists, vendor quotations, and technical bid evaluations
- Support material procurement with Supply Chain
- Provide technical support during construction
- Incorporate lessons learned into future designs
- Guide junior engineers and other team members
- Collaborate with Project Management, Operations, Construction, Shared Services, Supply Chain, and external engineering partners
- Communicate project progress, resolve complex issues, and support departmental initiatives
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or an equivalent discipline from an accredited university or college
- 6+ years of progressive experience in electrical engineering system design and commissioning activities
- Preference for a Professional Engineer (PE) designation
- Strong technical expertise in 480V systems, motor controls, variable frequency drives, medium-voltage switchgear, power distribution systems, and applicable power-industry standards
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, prioritize competing tasks, and resolve complex issues using sound technical and business judgment
- Ability to communicate technical issues clearly to technical and non-technical audiences and build effective stakeholder relationships
- Ability to innovate and manage change
- Ability to travel in the United States, including potential overnight business trips
- Valid driver's license and responsible driving record required
- Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment at field locations
- Physical ability to grasp, kneel, lift light to moderate objects up to 20 pounds, reach above shoulder, perform repetitive motion, type, sit, stand, see screens, detect color coding, read fine print, and hear
- Ability to understand and apply oral and written instructions, understand complex problems, collaborate on alternative solutions, organize and prioritize work, make decisions, complete routine forms, compose basic reports, and communicate by telephone
