About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead complex engineering activities, including standards development, specifications, pipeline and station design, design reviews, HDD design, geotechnical evaluations, and technical assessments
  • Provide senior technical expertise to operations and ensure compliance with codes, standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Independently resolve complex technical issues and recommend design or standards deviations
  • Coordinate engineering requirements across operations, construction, and asset management teams
  • Drive standards and specification management programs
  • Support capital and maintenance projects through risk assessments, asset integrity reviews, and stakeholder communication
  • Mentor technical teams
  • Work in an office environment with hybrid work options
  • Provide after-hours and on-call support as needed
  • Travel moderately to other offices or job sites

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program
  • 6+ years of related paid experience in engineering design, engineering build, standards development, and frontline operations technical support
  • Professional Engineering (P.E.) license or ability to obtain one
  • Advanced knowledge of pipeline engineering, design practices, and DOT PHMSA, ASME, and API standards
  • Ability to independently solve complex technical problems using analytical skills and sound engineering judgment
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills
  • Project management and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Experience in natural gas utilities, pipeline operations, or similar energy sectors is an asset
  • Experience with standards development and specification management is an asset
  • Knowledge of HDD, geotechnical engineering, and asset integrity practices is a plus but not required
  • Experience mentoring engineers or coordinating technical teams is an asset
  • Ability to meet physical requirements including grasping, kneeling, lifting up to 20 pounds, reaching overhead, repetitive movements, typing, sitting, standing, visual activities, hearing, prolonged computer use, and working in tight spaces
  • Availability for standard business hours plus after-hours and on-call support as needed
  • Moderate travel of less than 20% to offices or job sites
  • Valid driver’s license, ability to travel, and responsible driving record required
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the country where the position is located without sponsorship from Enbridge
