About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide Lands & ROW support for pipeline operations and maintenance, including damage claims, encroachment monitoring, reclamation, drainage improvements, depth-of-cover mitigation, and cathodic protection programs
  • Serve as primary Land lead for regional initiatives and Core Projects
  • Align land scope, schedules, and customer requirements
  • Lead and support contractors and Land Advisors
  • Provide direction, oversight, and quality assurance for consistent deliverables and negotiation outcomes
  • Develop and standardize Land Operations procedures, policies, templates, and agreements
  • Advise internal collaborators and cross-functional teams on land-related technical issues
  • Coordinate with regulators, landowners, and government agencies to ensure compliance
  • Prepare, review, and manage land agreements and legal instruments
  • Use GIS tools and data systems for accurate tracking and regulatory compliance
  • Travel to meet partners and visit field locations within the operating region, including regional offices and partner/landowner visits

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 6+ years of related right-of-way experience in progressive roles
  • Bachelor’s degree or technical diploma and/or equivalent years of post-secondary education and directly related industry experience may be considered
  • Candidates without a university degree require an additional 3 years of related experience
  • Candidates without a technical diploma require an additional 2 years of related experience
  • Strong understanding of federal, state, and Indigenous/Sovereign Nation regulations related to ROW activities and landowner responsibilities
  • Experience managing ROW for Core Projects and Programs
  • Knowledge of pipeline systems, facility interactions, and land acquisition/easement requirements
  • Ability to interpret legal plans, titles, deeds, engineering drawings, and land documentation
  • Ability to interpret legislation and apply sound judgment in complex situations
  • Must be licensed as a North Carolina real estate agent or able to obtain it within 18 months of hire
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, GIS, and land systems
  • Valid driver’s license and responsible driving record
  • IRWA or equivalent designation preferred
  • Ability to meet physical requirements including lifting objects up to 20 pounds, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, and visual/hearing requirements
  • Ability to meet stated mental requirements, including understanding instructions, solving complex problems, organizing work, making decisions, completing forms, composing basic reports, and communicating by telephone
  • Final candidates may be required to undergo security screening, including a criminal records check
