About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead monthly O&M budget and forecast preparation
  • Evaluate business performance and partner with Operations Directors and Project Managers on financial results, risks, and opportunities
  • Coordinate annual budgeting for headcount, workforce and direct labour, O&M, integrity and Shared Services, business development, non-core revenue, and Central Functions
  • Oversee monthly and quarterly financial reporting and analysis
  • Lead general accounting activities, including journal entries, accruals, transfers, third-party billings, cost recoveries, accounts payable, and union employee time-entry reconciliations
  • Provide leadership and direction to four direct reports
  • Support team performance, development, and delivery of accurate and timely financial information
  • Partner with operations, regulatory, commercial, finance, supply chain, Project Managers, and other stakeholders
  • Provide financial insights supporting operational priorities, projects, and decision-making
  • Prepare financial schedules for surveillance reporting, settlement, and rate applications
  • Ensure compliance with US GAAP and established financial controls

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • CPA designation or equivalent professional certification
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting and/or FP&A experience
  • Preferably, exposure to public practice, management performance and financial reporting, or gas transmission assets
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities and experience guiding, overseeing, and developing accounting or finance professionals
  • Experience with ERP and financial systems such as Oracle Cloud, HFM, SmartView, or Essbase
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Ability to assess complex accounting and financial matters and translate information into meaningful business insights
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver accurate, high-quality work within recurring and tight deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal, written, verbal, influencing, stakeholder-management, and collaboration skills
  • Final candidates may be required to undergo security screening, including a criminal records check
