About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as a human services subject-matter resource on Disaster Human Services Impact Assessment operations
  • Deploy as part of multidisciplinary Disaster Human Services Impact Assessment teams
  • Assess and document disaster impacts on human service provider facilities, equipment, vehicles, grounds, utilities, accessibility, staffing, and service delivery
  • Evaluate how disaster conditions affect providers and community access to human services
  • Identify and document service-access impacts across child care, child welfare, elder care, intimate partner violence, homelessness, trafficking, nutrition assistance, economic self-sufficiency, disability supports, and related services
  • Interview human service providers, local officials, community partners, and other authorized sources
  • Maintain accurate observations, assessment records, supporting notes, and required reports
  • Coordinate with civil engineers and technical specialists regarding facility conditions
  • Identify service gaps, operational barriers, resource needs, and recovery considerations
  • Support assessment summaries, briefings, reports, and other mission products
  • Provide social work, crisis-support, resource-navigation, or referral assistance when within mission scope
  • Protect PII, assessment records, and Federal information while following privacy, cybersecurity, records-management, and Rules of Behavior requirements
  • Participate in readiness activities, training, exercises, briefings, debriefings, hotwashes, and continuous improvement
  • Maintain deployment readiness and deploy safely within required timeframes in field and austere environments
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work or a closely related human services field is preferred
  • Advanced education in Social Work or a related field is desirable
  • Any license or certification required for a specific assignment must be current and maintained
  • Relevant experience in social work, human services, community services, needs assessment, case management, disaster response/recovery, or service-system coordination is preferred
  • Experience evaluating barriers to human service delivery or working with vulnerable and disaster-affected populations is desirable
  • Must complete organization-required screening, background investigation, credentialing, cybersecurity/privacy training, Rules of Behavior, role-based training, and standardized Disaster Human Services Impact Assessment training before applicable system or record access and deployment
  • Must maintain reliable availability while deployment ready and work variable schedules, including extended hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays when operationally required
  • Nationwide travel and deployment to disaster-impacted locations is required
  • Must deploy within required contract timeframes, including the 48-hour surge requirement when applicable
  • Driver’s License with a clear record
  • Must have daily use of a vehicle without prior notice
  • Must be capable of working in disaster-impacted or austere environments
  • Must successfully complete and maintain required screening, credentialing, background investigation, training, licenses/certifications when applicable, and security/access requirements
