About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Deploy as a member of Disaster Human Services Impact Assessment teams in disaster-impacted jurisdictions.
- Assess and document operational impacts affecting access to human services, including facilities, equipment, vehicles, grounds, utilities, accessibility, staffing, and service-delivery conditions.
- Apply human services knowledge to explain how disaster conditions affect providers and the populations they serve.
- Identify and document service-access impacts involving child care, child welfare, aging and elder care, intimate partner violence services, homelessness services, labor and sex trafficking services, nutrition assistance, economic self-sufficiency programs, and disability supports.
- Conduct interviews and gather information from providers, officials, community partners, and authorized sources.
- Document observations and impacts in designated systems of record and maintain supporting notes, assessment records, and reports.
- Coordinate with civil engineers and technical specialists regarding facility conditions.
- Identify service gaps, operational barriers, resource needs, and recovery considerations.
- Support assessment summaries, briefings, reports, and other mission products.
- Provide social work, crisis-support, resource navigation, or referral assistance when within mission scope.
- Protect PII, assessment records, and Federal information and comply with privacy, cybersecurity, records-management, and Rules of Behavior requirements.
- Participate in readiness activities, training, exercises, briefings, debriefings, hotwashes, and continuous improvement activities.
- Maintain deployment readiness and deploy within required timeframes in field and austere environments.
- Demonstrate exceptional customer service by placing the child, family, Veteran, or client first.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work or a closely related human services field is preferred.
- Any license or certification required for a specific assignment must be current and maintained.
- Relevant experience in social work, human services, community services, needs assessment, case management, disaster response/recovery, or service-system coordination is preferred.
- Experience evaluating barriers to human service delivery or working with vulnerable and disaster-affected populations is desirable.
- Must complete organization and required screening, background investigation, credentialing, cybersecurity/privacy training, Rules of Behavior, role-based training, and standardized Disaster Human Services Impact Assessment training before accessing applicable Government systems or assessment records and before deployment, as required.
- Must maintain reliable availability while identified as deployment ready and be able to work variable schedules, including extended hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays when operationally required.
- Nationwide travel and deployment to disaster impacted locations is required.
- Must be able to deploy within required contract timeframes, including the 48-hour surge requirement when applicable.
- Driver’s License with a clear record.
- Must have daily use of a vehicle without prior notice.
- Must be capable of working in disaster-impacted or austere environments and successfully complete and maintain all required screening, credentialing, background investigation, training, licenses/certifications when applicable, and security/access requirements.
