About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Deploy as a member of Disaster Human Services Impact Assessment teams and support field assessment activities in identified disaster-impacted jurisdictions
- Assess and document operational impacts that may reduce, interrupt, or prevent access to human services
- Apply human services delivery knowledge to explain how disaster conditions may affect providers and populations served
- Identify and document service-access impacts involving child care, child welfare, aging and elder care, intimate partner violence services, homelessness services, trafficking services, nutrition assistance, economic self-sufficiency programs, disability supports, and other access and functional needs
- Conduct interviews and gather information from human service providers, local officials, community partners, and authorized sources using approved protocols and tools
- Document observations and human services impacts in designated systems; maintain notes, assessment records, and required reports
- Coordinate with civil engineers and technical specialists regarding observed facility conditions
- Identify service gaps, operational barriers, resource needs, and recovery considerations
- Support development of assessment summaries, briefings, reports, and other mission products
- Provide social work, crisis-support, resource navigation, or referral assistance when within mission scope and qualifications
- Protect PII, assessment records, and Federal information; comply with privacy, confidentiality, cybersecurity, records-management, and Rules of Behavior requirements
- Use culturally responsive practices and consider individuals with disabilities and others with access and functional needs
- Participate in readiness activities, training, exercises, operational briefings, debriefings, hotwashes, and continuous improvement activities
- Maintain deployment readiness and deploy within required operational timeframes in field and austere environments
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Demonstrate exceptional customer service by placing the child, family, Veteran, or client first
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work or a closely related human services field is preferred
- Advanced education in Social Work or a related field is desirable
- Any license or certification required for a specific assignment must be current and maintained
- Relevant experience in social work, human services, community services, needs assessment, case management, disaster response/recovery, or service-system coordination is preferred
- Experience evaluating barriers to human service delivery or working with vulnerable and disaster-affected populations is desirable
- Must complete organization-required screening, background investigation, credentialing, cybersecurity/privacy training, Rules of Behavior, role-based training, and standardized Disaster Human Services Impact Assessment training before accessing applicable Government systems or assessment records and before deployment, as required
- Must maintain reliable availability while deployment ready and work variable schedules, including extended hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays when operationally required
- Nationwide travel and deployment to disaster-impacted locations is required
- Must be able to deploy within required contract timeframes, including the 48-hour surge requirement when applicable
- Driver’s License with a clear record
- Must have daily use of a vehicle without prior notice
- Must be capable of working in disaster-impacted or austere environments
- Must successfully complete and maintain required screening, credentialing, background investigation, training, licenses/certifications when applicable, and security/access requirements
- Must demonstrate exceptional customer service
