About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Deploy as a member of Disaster Human Services Impact Assessment teams
  • Support field assessment activities in identified disaster-impacted jurisdictions
  • Assess and document operational impacts affecting access to human services
  • Evaluate impacts involving facilities, equipment, vehicles, grounds, utilities, accessibility, staffing, and service-delivery conditions
  • Explain how disaster conditions may affect human service providers and populations served
  • Identify and document service-access impacts across child care, child welfare, elder care, intimate partner violence, homelessness, trafficking, nutrition assistance, economic self-sufficiency, disability supports, and related services
  • Conduct interviews and gather information from providers, officials, community partners, and authorized sources
  • Maintain assessment records, supporting notes, designated systems of record, and required reports
  • Coordinate with civil engineers and technical specialists regarding facility conditions
  • Identify service gaps, operational barriers, resource needs, and recovery considerations
  • Support assessment summaries, briefings, reports, and other mission products
  • Provide social work, crisis-support, resource navigation, or referral assistance within mission scope
  • Protect PII, assessment records, and Federal information
  • Use culturally responsive practices and consider access and functional needs
  • Participate in readiness activities, training, exercises, briefings, debriefings, hotwashes, and continuous improvement
  • Maintain deployment readiness and deploy within required operational timeframes
  • Work safely in field and austere environments
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work or a closely related human services field is preferred
  • Advanced education in Social Work or a related field is desirable
  • Any license or certification required for a specific assignment must be current and maintained
  • Must complete organization and required screening, background investigation, credentialing, cybersecurity/privacy training, Rules of Behavior, role-based training, and standardized Disaster Human Services Impact Assessment training
  • Must maintain reliable availability while deployment ready
  • Able to work variable schedules, including extended hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays when operationally required
  • Nationwide travel and deployment to disaster-impacted locations is required
  • Able to deploy within required contract timeframes, including the 48-hour surge requirement when applicable
  • Driver’s License with a clear record
  • Must have daily use of a vehicle without prior notice
  • Capable of working in disaster-impacted or austere environments
  • Must successfully complete and maintain required screening, credentialing, background investigation, training, licenses/certifications when applicable, and security/access requirements
