About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Own the year-end audit and statutory accounts and act as the main contact for auditors
Own and improve the month-end close, making it faster and more accurate as the business grows
Close out audit recommendations and build a controls framework for the next stage of the business
Improve and automate finance processes using AI and systems to reduce manual work
Work with the FP&A team to deliver accurate, timely numbers
Partner with the wider business to build controls into purchasing, spending and payment processes
Lead on complex accounting areas and changes in accounting standards
Oversee invoice processing, payments, banking, cash forecasting, VAT, corporation tax and R&D claims
Work closely with the Director of Finance and wider Finance team
Strengthen the control environment and build scalable processes

Requirements

What you’ll need

ACA qualification, with audit training at a Big Four or mid-tier firm
Post-qualification experience as a Finance Manager or in a similar role within a high-growth business
Experience leading or supporting an external audit and preparing statutory accounts
Strong technical accounting knowledge
Track record of improving month-end close, controls and finance processes as a business evolves
Experience implementing finance systems and automation, with an AI-first approach to reducing manual work
Advanced Excel skills and experience with Xero or similar
Ability to communicate clearly with auditors, advisers and non-finance stakeholders
High standards of accuracy, ownership of the numbers and confidence to challenge constructively
Proactive, collaborative approach and comfort working in a fast-paced, evolving environment
Experience in a technology, digital health, subscription or D2C business is a bonus
Experience implementing new finance systems or tools is a bonus
Track record of raising the standard of a finance function is a bonus
