About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage day-to-day implementation of a large commercial energy efficiency program for a major California natural gas utility
- Serve as the primary day-to-day contact for the utility client
- Coordinate internal staff, customers, contractors, utility staff, and other stakeholders
- Manage program planning, schedules, budgets, quality expectations, and service delivery
- Supervise program staff and support accountability and performance
- Track customer activity, project progression, service milestones, pipeline status, and key performance metrics
- Prepare and support submission of client reports, internal updates, dashboards, presentations, and required documentation
- Support project financial oversight, P&L management, budget tracking, invoicing inputs, and coordination with finance and leadership
- Conduct or support outreach to high-potential commercial customers
- Schedule and lead meetings and planning sessions; document action items and follow-ups
- Maintain organized and current program records, communications, approvals, and operational materials
- Identify and resolve delivery challenges, administrative bottlenecks, customer concerns, and data gaps
- Develop relationships with subcontractors, partners, and industry collaborators
- Represent EIP at conferences, industry events, trade groups, and networking opportunities
- Identify and qualify new business opportunities and monitor upcoming procurements
- Support proposal development, staffing approaches, partnership strategies, scope development, and pricing inputs
- Recommend and implement workflow, reporting, tracking, financial management, and coordination improvements
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in business, environmental studies, engineering, energy management, public administration, or a related field; or equivalent relevant experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in program management, project coordination, operations, client services, or related roles within the energy sector
- Experience in energy efficiency, utility programs, renewable energy, grid modernization, or sustainability initiatives
- Demonstrated experience managing or supporting program delivery, schedules, reporting, documentation, and cross-functional coordination
- Strong client management experience, including maintaining relationships, coordinating priorities, and supporting issue resolution
- Ability to supervise staff, coordinate team activities, and support accountability for deliverables and performance
- Experience supporting project financial management, invoicing, reporting, documentation, and multiple concurrent priorities
- Ability to identify and help qualify opportunities, support partnership development, and contribute to proposals and pricing
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to identify issues, prioritize effectively, and implement practical solutions
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, CRM systems, project tracking tools, and reporting platforms
- Commitment to sustainability, energy efficiency, and equitable clean energy outcomes

- Preferred: Experience supporting or managing utility-sponsored energy efficiency or demand-side management programs
- Preferred: Experience with large commercial, institutional, healthcare, higher education, hospitality, or other complex non-residential customer segments
- Preferred: Familiarity with California utility programs and energy efficiency market dynamics
- Preferred: Experience with project budgets, P&Ls, invoicing, subcontractor coordination, or related financial administration
- Preferred: Experience conducting customer outreach, supporting participation strategies, or developing project opportunities
- Preferred: Experience contributing to proposals, staffing plans, pricing development, teaming strategies, or partnership cultivation
- Preferred: Experience working in deadline-driven cross-functional team environments
