About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design and develop control systems for specific projects with the SBC Manager, Controls Engineering, and other engineers
  • Draft and develop installation and commissioning documentation for SBC programs and projects
  • Draft point lists, sequences of operations, and related documents
  • Program local stations to satisfy sequences of operations
  • Develop and program BMS user interfaces
  • Perform systems integrations using a wide variety of protocols, including basic software
  • Ensure technologies are integrated and technically compliant with applicable standards
  • Communicate results to Controls Management, Controls Engineering, and others at EMC
  • Collaborate with the Controls team, field teams, customers, and multiple EMC departments
  • Navigate smart-building industry trends and help position EMC to capitalize on them
  • Implement advanced smart-building control solutions for EMC clients and potential clients
  • Execute projects and programs delivering ROI opportunities for customers
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Industrial Engineering and/or another related field
  • 5+ years of system engineer or system integrator experience with at least one controls platform
  • 5+ years in the building automation systems industry
  • 5+ years of HVAC Automation/Controls Engineering or Data Analytics experience
  • Technical proficiency in A/C electrical circuits and low voltage D/C electrical circuits and operation
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and device data sheets
  • Familiarity with creating technical shop drawings, including riser diagrams
  • Strong communication, organization, leadership, technical, problem-solving, teamwork, and troubleshooting abilities
  • Knowledge of industry best practices
  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, HVAC, lighting, and hardware systems
  • Programming proficiency with Niagara-based systems, including N4
  • Hands-on hardware and software troubleshooting experience
  • Experience integrating computer programs
  • Experience solving complicated problems
  • Experience with Niagara software and coding languages such as JavaScript and HTML
  • Experience with LED lighting, HVAC, and building management system (BMS) operation
  • Expertise leveraging IoT concepts and technology, building automation systems, and database programming
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds
  • Ability to climb stairs and/or ladders
  • Comfortable in customer-site and office settings
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% as needed
