About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead and support teams responsible for ensuring building systems align with owners’ operational requirements and engineers’ design intent
- Mentor and develop commissioning professionals and foster excellence, accountability, and client focus
- Establish performance standards, provide coaching, and conduct evaluations
- Collaborate with clients, internal teams, contractors, engineers, architects, and external partners
- Define, document, and communicate project requirements
- Manage and distribute project information to commissioning agents and technicians
- Maintain frequent project status tracking and reporting for clients and stakeholders
- Ensure communications with clients, contractors, and consultants are documented and properly executed
- Identify scope or performance gaps and drive corrective actions
- Develop and negotiate commissioning fee proposals, including labor-hour estimates
- Oversee KPIs and performance metrics to maintain project health and continuous improvement
- Advise the VP of Commissioning on standards, processes, and best practices
- Support business development, interviews, and new and existing client opportunities
- Lead and advance the commissioning process across assigned projects
- Participate in owner training activities
- Manage project commissioning budgets and guide efficient execution
- Assess project feasibility and profitability before approval
- Reinforce ENFRA’s owner advocacy principles and core values
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or related field
- 8+ years of experience in commissioning or related building construction experience
- Experience with mechanical, plumbing, automatic temperature control systems, and/or testing, adjusting, and balancing
- Comprehensive knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, controls, and building enclosure systems
- Detailed knowledge of the complete commercial construction process
- Strong leadership skills focused on employee development
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Detail-oriented and able to manage various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of the industry and the Company’s competitors
- Commissioning Certification (e.g. NEBB, ACG, BCxA, ASHRAE, etc.)
- Proficiency with cloud-based commissioning software platforms
- Ability to interact professionally with owners, owners’ representatives, contractors, engineers, and architects
- Ability to lead and mentor a team and build collaborative relationships
- Registered Engineering Intern (EI) certification or Professional Engineer (PE) Licensure preferred
- 5+ years in a leadership role preferred
- Ability to travel 25%-40% of the time
- Ability to ascend and descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, and poles
- Ability to work in tight and confined spaces and various environments
- Ability to perform repetitive motions involving wrists, hands, and/or fingers
- Ability to adjust and/or move objects up to 50 pounds
