About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Sign and seal engineering documents
  • Lead designs for solar energy, battery energy storage, fuel cell, and combined heat and power plants with guidance from senior engineers
  • Develop detailed deliverables including one-lines, load calculations, and specifications
  • Perform utility interconnect, arc flash, short-circuit, and breaker coordination calculations
  • Support system upgrades, retrofits, and new installations
  • Conduct field investigations and support site visits
  • Coordinate and plan 3D laser scanning efforts
  • Coordinate with mechanical, controls, and construction teams
  • Perform work with a high degree of autonomy
  • Act as task lead or discipline lead on projects
  • Independently resolve complex technical problems
  • Provide informal mentorship to junior engineers and designers
  • Interface directly with clients on technical matters
  • Support permitting, procurement, and field execution while maintaining design documentation and meeting performance, reliability, and energy-efficiency goals

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in architectural engineering, electrical engineering, or related field
  • 7+ years of design experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License
  • Advanced knowledge of electrical power and building systems
  • Experience with system coordination, protection, and controls integration
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary designs
  • 10–25% travel to job sites
  • Ability to perform prolonged office work at a desk and computer
  • Ability to ascend and descend stairs, ladders, ramps, and possibly scaffolding
  • Ability to conduct field surveys in loud environments, extreme temperatures, and/or elevated locations
  • Ability to lift or move objects up to 20 pounds
