About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Sign and seal engineering documents and ensure quality standards
- Lead and review designs for solar energy, battery energy storage, fuel cell, and combined heat and power plants
- Perform and review utility interconnect, arc flash, short-circuit, and breaker coordination calculations and studies
- Manage electrical scope, including schedule, budget, and deliverables
- Supervise planning for field investigations and site visits
- Review plans for 3D laser scanning efforts when needed
- Resolve highly complex technical and coordination challenges
- Provide technical oversight and review of junior staff work
- Work independently with broad authority
- Mentor and develop junior engineers and designers
- Coordinate with clients, utilities, and external stakeholders
- Support existing client relationships through technical input, proposals, and client engagement
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in architectural engineering, electrical engineering, or related field
- 10+ years of design experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) License
- Advanced knowledge of electrical power and building systems
- Experience with system coordination, protection, and controls integration
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary designs
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering (preferred)
- Experience with large-scale infrastructure or energy programs (preferred)
- Familiarity with utility coordination and interconnection processes (preferred)
- Ability to travel 10–20% of the time
- Ability to work at a desk and on a computer for prolonged periods
- Ability to climb stairs
- Ability to remain stationary, often kneeling, standing, or sitting for prolonged periods
- Ability to perform repetitive motions involving the wrists, hands, and fingers
- Ability to work in a quiet environment
- Ability to adjust or move objects up to 20 pounds
