About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as a senior technical leader for complex electrical systems supporting hospital and college campus energy and infrastructure projects
- Sign and seal engineering documents and ensure quality standards
- Lead and review designs for solar energy, battery energy storage, fuel cell, and combined heat and power plants
- Perform and review utility interconnect, arc flash, short-circuit, and breaker coordination calculations
- Manage electrical scope, including schedules, budgets, and deliverables
- Supervise planning for field investigations and site visits
- Review plans for 3D laser scanning efforts as needed
- Resolve highly complex technical and coordination challenges
- Provide technical oversight and review of junior staff work
- Work independently with broad authority
- Mentor and develop junior engineers and designers
- Coordinate with clients, utilities, and external stakeholders
- Support existing client relationships through technical input, proposals, and client engagement
- Conduct field surveys, document existing conditions, and observe construction progress
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in architectural engineering, electrical engineering, or related field
- 10+ years of design experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) License
- Advanced knowledge of electrical power and building systems
- Experience with system coordination, protection, and controls integration
- Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary designs
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
- 10–25% travel to job sites
- Ability to perform prolonged office work at a desk and computer
- Ability to ascend and descend stairs, ladders, ramps, and possibly scaffolding
- Ability to conduct field surveys in loud environments, extreme temperatures, and elevated locations
- Ability to perform repetitive motions involving wrists, hands, and/or fingers
- Ability to adjust or move objects up to 20 pounds
- Preferred: Master's degree in Electrical Engineering
- Preferred: Experience with large-scale infrastructure or energy programs
- Preferred: Familiarity with utility coordination and interconnection process
