About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Evaluate, program, optimize, and test new and existing building systems on-site or remotely
  • Plan, document, and independently conduct technical work with minimal direction
  • Produce optimized energy and project outcomes for retro-commissioning and new construction commissioning scopes
  • Collaborate with construction management, facilities management, engineers, and trade partners
  • Perform site surveys, documentation reviews, and due diligence to assess facility conditions and develop energy conservation measures
  • Participate in design and submittal reviews for new construction commissioning
  • Use CxAlloy to document commissioning scopes
  • Develop pre-functional checklists and functional performance tests in CxAlloy
  • Prepare technical reports and project observations
  • Implement energy conservation measures and modify building system programming
  • Troubleshoot building system integration, networking, and operation using test instrumentation
  • Oversee and execute functional performance tests
  • Supervise trade partners and subcontractors when required
  • Document, track, communicate, and resolve project issues
  • Monitor energy performance and ensure project targets are met
  • Escalate impediments and follow Technical Services processes and SOPs
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Associate's Degree or equivalent in HVAC, Energy Management, Building Automation, or related technical field
  • 7+ years of commissioning or related field experience with mechanical, electrical, building automation systems, programming, or building operation management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Attention to safety
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to work with minimal or limited information
  • Self-directed or able to work with limited direction
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Competency with cloud-based commissioning software platforms
  • Ability to travel to job sites and office locations 50% of the time
  • Ability to work in office and on-site environments
  • Ability to climb ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, and/or poles
  • Ability to work in tight and confined spaces and varying indoor/outdoor conditions
  • Ability to move objects up to 20–50 pounds
