About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide technical authority and direction for Integrated Solutions project delivery and retro-commissioning activities
  • Support all phases of the commissioning process
  • Collaborate with the engineer of record on system optimization and field-based solutions development
  • Support standards and process development, training, and mentorship of Technical Services staff
  • Provide technical assistance during pre-engineering data collection surveys
  • Lead site surveys to determine facility conditions and project requirements
  • Develop energy conservation strategies for retro-commissioning projects
  • Assist design teams with integrating energy conservation strategies into unified energy-management approaches
  • Review RFPs for equipment and services procurement
  • Collaborate on project engineering in accordance with best practices, company standards, and applicable codes
  • Review critical equipment and system submittals for contract and project-outcome compliance
  • Conduct commissioning and occasional peer reviews of design documents
  • Advise project teams on technical and resource requirements
  • Visit sites to review construction progress, installation quality, and deficiencies
  • Troubleshoot equipment and system installation or setup problems
  • Support implementation teams in completing project requirements
  • Assist in optimizing complex equipment and system upgrades
  • Identify project-execution gaps and create standards and processes to address them
  • Support or develop tools for project execution
  • Solve system integration and operation problems
  • Ensure excellent work execution and positive client experiences
  • Perform assigned duties with minimal supervision in a team problem-solving environment
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and mentoring within Technical Services
  • Complete technical reports and related documents
  • Develop training materials
  • Provide post-implementation, on-site operations and maintenance training
  • Inform significant business decisions while executing project assignments
  • Balance project constraints with required outcomes
  • Perform other duties assigned by company leadership

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 6-10 years of experience in engineering design, energy management, or retro-commissioning
  • Professional Mechanical Engineering (PE) license
  • Expert technical knowledge of the subject matter
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Customer/Client orientation
  • Leadership skills with the ability to develop and mentor others
  • Ability to problem solve and analyze complex systems
  • Detail-oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects with competing deadlines
  • Ability to multitask and perform duties outside of the scope of work when necessary
  • Preferred: Central Energy Plant (CEP), Healthcare, or Higher Education project experience
  • Preferred: Chilled Water, Heating Water, Steam, and Tower Water system project experience
  • Preferred: Hydronic system distribution project experience
  • Preferred: Building automation, controls, and systems integration project experience
  • Preferred: Test and Balance project experience
  • Preferred: Energy Management project experience
  • Preferred: AutoCAD and REVIT experience
  • Ability to travel 50% of the time to job site(s)/office location
  • Ability to perform physical activities including climbing stairs, ladders, scaffolding, ramps, and poles; remaining stationary for prolonged periods; moving between worksites; and repetitive wrist, hand, or finger motions
  • Ability to work around outdoor elements, precipitation, wind, and noisy or quiet environments
  • Ability to perform medium work, including adjusting or moving objects up to 50 pounds
