About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Sign and seal engineering documents
- Lead design and analysis of mechanical systems for moderately complex projects
- Develop calculations, drawings, and technical specifications
- Improve existing systems and support development of new solutions
- Prepare detailed system configurations and control schemes focused on long-term energy savings
- Conduct field investigations and support site visits
- Coordinate and plan 3D laser scanning efforts
- Coordinate with internal disciplines and support construction-phase activities
- Resolve complex technical issues independently
- Provide informal mentorship to junior engineers and designers
- Interface directly with clients on technical matters
- Act as task lead or discipline lead on projects when needed
- Design and coordinate HVAC, hydronic, and thermal plant systems for hospital and college campuses
- Support permitting and procurement and address field conditions
- Produce accurate calculations and documentation for performance, reliability, and energy-efficiency objectives
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in architectural engineering, mechanical engineering, or related
- 7+ years of design experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) License
- Advanced knowledge of mechanical systems and design practices
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary deliverables
- Strong communication and technical writing skills
- Prolonged periods of office work sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Ability to ascend and descend stairs, ladders, ramps, and possibly scaffolding
- Ability to work in loud conditions, peak/low temperatures, and/or elevated locations during field surveys
- Ability to perform repetitive motions involving the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
- Ability to adjust or move objects up to 20 pounds
