About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Sign and seal engineering documents
  • Lead design and analysis of mechanical systems for projects of moderate complexity
  • Develop calculations, drawings, and technical specifications
  • Improve existing systems and support development of new solutions
  • Prepare detailed system configurations and control schemes focused on long-term energy savings
  • Conduct field investigations and support site visits
  • Coordinate and plan 3D laser scanning efforts
  • Coordinate with internal disciplines and support construction-phase activities
  • Resolve complex technical issues independently
  • Provide informal mentorship to junior engineers and designers
  • Interface directly with clients on technical matters
  • Act as task lead or discipline lead on projects when needed
  • Design and coordinate HVAC, hydronic, and thermal plant systems for energy and infrastructure projects across hospital and college campuses
  • Support permitting and procurement and address field conditions
  • Produce accurate calculations and documentation delivering performance, reliability, and energy efficiency objectives

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in architectural engineering, mechanical engineering, or related
  • 7+ years of design experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License
  • Advanced knowledge of mechanical systems and design practices
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary deliverables
  • Strong communication and technical writing skills
  • Prolonged periods of office work sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Ability to ascend and descend stairs, ladders, ramps, and possibly scaffolding
  • Ability to complete field surveys in loud environments, peak/low temperatures, and/or elevated locations
  • Ability to perform repeating motions involving the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
  • Ability to travel to job sites and document existing conditions and observe construction progress
  • Ability to adjust or move objects up to 20 pounds
