About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Sign and seal engineering documents and oversee technical quality
- Lead the design and execution of complex mechanical systems and large-scale projects
- Develop detailed system configurations and control schemes focused on long-term energy savings
- Establish engineering approaches, design standards, and best practices
- Provide technical oversight and review of junior staff work
- Manage discipline scope, schedules, and budgets
- Supervise field investigations and site visits, including 3D laser scanning planning
- Coordinate with clients, stakeholders, and external partners
- Resolve complex technical and project challenges
- Mentor and develop junior engineers and designers
- Support client relationships through technical input, proposals, and client engagement
- Design and deliver HVAC, hydronic, and thermal plant systems for hospital and college campus energy and infrastructure projects
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in architectural engineering, mechanical engineering, or related field
- 10+ years of design experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) License
- Expert knowledge of mechanical system design and applications
- Strong leadership, project management, and decision-making capabilities
- Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams
- Advanced communication and client management skills
- 10–25% travel to job sites
- Ability to perform office and field work, including stairs, ladders, ramps, scaffolding, loud or extreme temperatures, elevated locations, and moving objects up to 20 pounds
