About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Sign and seal engineering documents and oversee technical quality
- Lead the design and execution of complex mechanical systems and large-scale projects
- Develop detailed system configurations and control schemes emphasizing long-term energy savings
- Establish engineering approaches, design standards, and best practices
- Provide technical oversight and review junior staff work
- Manage discipline scope, schedules, and budgets
- Supervise field investigations and site visits; review plans for 3D laser scanning
- Coordinate with clients, stakeholders, and external partners
- Resolve highly complex technical and project challenges
- Mentor and develop junior engineers and designers
- Support existing client relationships through technical input, proposals, and client engagement
- Deliver code-compliant, constructible HVAC, hydronic, and thermal plant systems for hospital and college campuses
- Support permitting and procurement and ensure performance, reliability, and energy-efficiency objectives align with ENFRA's design-build delivery model
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in architectural engineering, mechanical engineering, or related field
- 10+ years of design experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) License
- Expert knowledge of mechanical system design and applications
- Strong leadership, project management, and decision-making capabilities
- Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams
- Advanced communication and client management skills
- Travel 10–25% of the time to job sites
- Ability to perform prolonged office work at a desk and computer
- Ability to ascend and descend stairs, ladders, ramps, and possibly scaffolding
- Ability to work in loud environments, peak/low temperatures, and elevated locations during field surveys
- Ability to perform repetitive motions involving wrists, hands, and/or fingers
- Ability to adjust or move objects up to 20 pounds
