About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Oversee all company accounting operations
  • Develop and execute strategies and standards for accounting policy, financial reporting, general ledger maintenance, budgeting, financial systems, and controls
  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close processes
  • Coordinate preparation of GAAP-compliant financial statements and filings
  • Conduct ad hoc financial analyses and present findings to executive leadership
  • Develop internal controls and oversee audits of policies and procedures
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions
  • Evaluate US accounting standards and determine proper treatment for project-related transactions
  • Supervise general ledger functions related to profit recognition and consolidation for multiple-entity construction specialty contracting companies operating in multiple states
  • Lead the Consolidation Accounting team and manage staff and organizational structure
  • Supervise and review general ledger entries and reconciliations related to Integrated Solution Projects
  • Direct recording of accounting transactions, account reconciliations, and resolution of exceptions
  • Review and improve accounting procedures and internal controls
  • Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual profit recognition and consolidation accounting close processes
  • Issue and review timely consolidated financial statements, reports, schedules, and statements
  • Maintain documented accounting policies and procedures
  • Ensure deliverables comply with current accounting standards
  • Interpret accounting reports and implement reporting and process improvements
  • Provide accurate information for executive management decisions
  • Respond to management and internal/external auditor inquiries
  • Compile annual audit schedules and assist with audits and tax filings
  • Assist in managing relationships with independent auditors
  • Comply with local, state, and federal reporting requirements

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's and Master’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related area
  • CPA Required
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in Accounting, Finance
  • Strong cost accounting knowledge and experience
  • Excellent analytical skills and problem-solving ability
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent interpersonal and team skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Relationship, collaboration, and communication skills
  • Strong leadership and management skills
  • Focus on delivering results and ability to drive change to improve performance, services, and outcomes
  • Detail-oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Versed in the industry and the Company’s competitors
  • Ability to multitask and perform duties outside the scope of work when necessary
  • Experience working for one of the Big 4 accounting firms and/or construction industry experience preferred
  • CMA, CFMA or MBACMA, MBA, and/or construction/engineering industry experience is a plus
  • Ability to travel 0–5% of the time to job sites/office locations
  • Ability to perform physical work involving repetitive wrist, hand, and/or finger motions
  • Ability to work in a noisy environment
  • Ability to perform light to heavy work, including adjusting and/or moving objects from 20–100 pounds
