About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead all accounting operations, including periodic financial reporting, accounting and consolidation systems, and comprehensive controls and procedures
- Develop and execute strategies and standards for accounting policy, financial reporting, general ledger maintenance, budgeting, financial systems, and controls
- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close processes
- Coordinate preparation of GAAP-compliant financial statements and filings
- Conduct ad hoc financial analyses and present findings to executive leadership
- Develop internal controls and oversee audits of policies and procedures
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions
- Evaluate US accounting standards and determine appropriate accounting treatment for project-related transactions
- Supervise general ledger functions related to profit recognition and consolidation for multiple-entity construction specialty contracting companies
- Oversee the Consolidation Accounting team and manage its organizational structure and staff
- Review general ledger entries, reconciliations, reports, schedules, and statements
- Direct recording of accounting transactions and timely preparation, validation, and resolution of reconciliations and exceptions
- Maintain documented accounting policies and procedures
- Interpret accounting reports and implement improvements to reporting and accounting processes
- Provide timely, accurate, and meaningful information for executive management decisions
- Respond to management, auditor, and special reporting inquiries
- Compile yearly audit schedules and assist with audits and tax filings
- Manage relationships with independent auditors
- Comply with local, state, and federal reporting requirements
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's and Master’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related area
- CPA Required
- 10+ years of relevant experience in Accounting, Finance
- Strong cost accounting knowledge and experience
- Excellent analytical skills and problem-solving ability
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent interpersonal and team skills
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Relationship, collaboration, and communication skills
- Strong leadership and management skills
- Focus on delivering results and ability to drive change to improve performance, services, and outcomes
- Detail-oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment
- Versed in the industry and the Company’s competitors
- Ability to multitask and perform duties outside of the scope of work when necessary
- Experience working for one of the Big 4 accounting firms and/or construction industry experience preferred
- CMA, CFMA or MBACMA, MBA, and/or construction/engineering industry experience is a plus
- Ability to travel 0–5% of the time to job sites or office locations
- Must comply with physical/work environment requirements, including repetitive wrist, hand, or finger motions; noisy environments; and light to heavy work involving objects weighing 20–100 pounds
