About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assemble ENGEL machinery to customer specifications in the York workshop, including electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic assembly
  • Perform electrical assembly and rewire machines, including relays, connectors, switches, breakers, wiring, and electrical panels
  • Install and remove sheet metal parts and mechanical assemblies
  • Add components to match customer specifications
  • Join clamp and injection units, level machines, and verify electrical, hydraulic, and water connections
  • Package completed machines for transport to customers
  • Install manifolds, run hoses, rebuild or replace valves, and perform hydraulic retrofits
  • Start up and test machines by connecting water and electricity
  • Check system functionality and troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, and water systems
  • Install software updates when needed
  • Perform final production tests to ensure full operation
  • Install and commission new equipment at customer sites
  • Troubleshoot new and existing equipment and install parts or retrofits to resolve operating issues
  • Complete field service forms, checklists, and reports
  • Work with electrical, software, hydraulic, mechanical, pneumatic, and automation systems
  • Assemble and test ENGEL Automation equipment, including 3-axis and 6-axis robots and auxiliary equipment
  • Install electrical and pneumatic components and complete wiring and pneumatic connections
  • Prepare equipment for testing and shipment
  • Perform basic and final acceptance testing
  • Perform other duties and special projects assigned by a supervisor

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Some vocational/technical school preferred
  • Knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC)
  • Minimum 3 years of related experience required
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical circuits, mechanical blueprints, diagrams, and schematics
  • Experience with 3-phase electrical wiring, including motors, motor controls, transformers, PLCs, 1-phase 120VAC and 24VDC control circuits, switches, sensors, and transmitters
  • Proficiency with hand tools used in electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic trades
  • Proficiency with forklifts, overhead cranes, jib cranes, boom and scissor lifts, volt and amp meters, soldering irons, drill presses, sanders, grinders, saws, and bench grinders
  • Ability to follow specific instructions and relevant work processes, sequences, and standards
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Knowledge of injection molding machines is an asset
  • Ability to stand for long periods, exceeding 2 hours
  • Ability to walk, bend, stoop, and kneel as needed
  • Fine manipulation of hands and fingers
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to operate a computer and keyboard continuously for more than two hours at a time
  • Ability to hear and listen for one to two hours at a time when working with technical support
