About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform benefit education and validation for inpatient services
- Conduct face-to-face reviews of inpatient benefits, authorizations, and patient liabilities
- Verify and calculate patient liabilities, including previous balances, copays, deductibles, co-insurance, and balances after financial assistance
- Collect patient payments and estimated liabilities
- Work patient access, insurance eligibility, and follow-up reports
- Facilitate daily in-house call reviews to validate payor sources and authorizations
- Complete pre-registration and registration tasks
- Monitor missed collection opportunities and visit patient rooms at least three times daily when needed
- Document patient liabilities on accounts daily
- Make follow-up calls and send post-discharge liability letters
- Obtain consent to treat, observation, Important Message from Medicare, and other registration forms
- Assist with insurance verification, Medicaid and charity processing, and eligibility tasks
- Run daily census reports to identify potential eligibility
- Collect and organize outpatient orders using Revenue Cycle system queues
- Perform all functions in accordance with organizational policies, regulatory requirements, and Ensemble’s mission
Requirements
What you’ll need- 1+ years of customer service experience
- High School Diploma/GED required
- CRCR (Certified Revenue Cycle Representative) required within 6 months of hire; company paid
- Must reside and be authorized to work within the United States
- Ability to work on-site at Carilion - Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, VA
- May be required to work nights, weekends, and holidays
- Knowledge of patient access, insurance eligibility, financial assistance, Medicaid, charity processing, registration, and revenue cycle systems
