About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform admitting duties for all patients admitted for hospital services
  • Assign accurate MRNs and complete medical necessity and compliance checks
  • Provide patient instructions and collect insurance information
  • Receive and process physician orders and utilize an overlay tool
  • Operate the telephone switchboard for incoming, outgoing, and inter-office calls
  • Meet point-of-service collection goals, including past-due balances and payment plans
  • Use quality auditing and reporting systems to correct accounts and provide statistical data to Patient Access leadership
  • Pre-register patient accounts and obtain demographic, insurance, and financial liability information
  • Explain consent and patient education forms, obtain signatures, and witness names
  • Review insurance eligibility responses and enter benefit data to support collections and clean claims
  • Screen medical necessity using ABN software and distribute and document required forms

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 1+ years of customer service experience
  • High School Diploma/GED required
  • CRCR required within 6 months of hire (company paid)
  • Must be inquisitive and demonstrate openness to innovation, including AI
  • Must reside and be authorized to work within the United States
  • Must be able to work on-site at Mercy - Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, KY
  • Must be available for a full-time Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m. schedule
