About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform admitting duties for all patients admitted for hospital services
  • Assign accurate MRNs and complete medical necessity and compliance checks
  • Provide patient instructions and collect insurance information
  • Receive and process physician orders
  • Use overlay tools while providing excellent customer service
  • Operate the telephone switchboard
  • Meet point-of-service goals and collect current and past-due balances, including payment-plan options
  • Conduct quality audits of accounts and provide statistical data to Patient Access leadership
  • Pre-register patient accounts through inbound and outbound calls
  • Explain consent and patient education forms, obtain signatures, and document witnesses
  • Review insurance eligibility responses and select applicable insurance plan codes
  • Enter benefit data to support point-of-service collections and billing processes
  • Screen medical necessity using ABN software and distribute/document required forms

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 1+ years of customer service experience
  • High School Diploma/GED required
  • CRCR required within 6 months of hire (company paid)
  • Must be inquisitive and open to innovation, including AI
  • Must be able to work on-site at Mercy - St Elizabeth Boardman Hospital in Boardman, OH
  • Must reside and be authorized to work within the United States
  • Ability to work full-time, including every other weekend/holiday
  • Ability to work scheduled shifts beginning at 2:30pm and 4pm
