About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform admitting duties for all patients admitted for hospital services
  • Assign accurate medical record numbers (MRNs)
  • Complete medical necessity and compliance checks
  • Provide patient instructions and customer service
  • Collect insurance information and process physician orders
  • Operate the telephone switchboard
  • Meet assigned point-of-service goals
  • Use quality auditing and reporting systems to correct accounts
  • Conduct account audits and provide statistical data to Patient Access leadership
  • Pre-register patient accounts before visits
  • Make inbound and outbound calls to obtain demographic and insurance information
  • Collect point-of-service payments and past-due balances, including payment plan options
  • Explain consent and patient education forms, obtain signatures, and document witnesses
  • Review insurance eligibility responses and select appropriate insurance plan codes
  • Enter benefit data to support point-of-service collections and billing
  • Screen Medicare medical necessity using ABN software and distribute required forms

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 1+ years of customer service experience
  • High School Diploma/GED required
  • CRCR required within 9 months of hire; company paid
  • Must be able to work on-site at RSFH - BSSF Hospital, Charleston, SC
  • Full-time availability from 10:30am–7pm
  • Weekend and holiday rotation required
  • Must be inquisitive and open to innovation, including AI
  • Must reside in and be authorized to work within the United States
  • Ability to meet regulatory compliance requirements
  • Ability to accurately perform patient registration, insurance verification, medical necessity screening, and point-of-service collections
