About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform admitting duties for all patients admitted for hospital services
- Assign accurate medical record numbers (MRNs)
- Complete medical necessity and compliance checks
- Provide patient instructions and collect insurance information
- Receive and process physician orders
- Operate the telephone switchboard
- Meet point-of-service goals and collect patient liabilities, past-due balances, and payments
- Conduct quality audits of accounts and provide statistical data to Patient Access leadership
- Pre-register patient accounts and obtain demographic, insurance, and financial information
- Explain consent forms and distribute patient education documents
- Review insurance eligibility responses and select applicable insurance plan codes
- Screen medical necessity using ABN software and distribute required forms
Requirements
What you’ll need- 1+ years of customer service experience
- Must be inquisitive and demonstrate openness to innovation including AI
- High School Diploma/GED required
- HFMA Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (CRCR) within 9 months of hire
- Must be able to work on-site at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg, VA
- Must reside and be authorized to work within the United States
