About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform admitting duties for patients receiving hospital services
- Assign accurate medical record numbers and complete medical necessity and compliance checks
- Provide patient instructions and collect insurance information
- Receive and process physician orders
- Operate the telephone switchboard and relay calls
- Meet assigned point-of-service goals and collect balances or arrange payment plans
- Conduct pre-registration through inbound and outbound calls
- Explain and obtain signatures for consent, Medicare, Tricare, observation, MOON, and other forms
- Review insurance eligibility, select plan codes, and enter benefit data to support collections and clean claims
- Screen medical necessity using ABN software and distribute required forms
- Conduct account audits, correct accounts, and provide statistical data to Patient Access leadership
- Deliver excellent patient and customer service while complying with organizational policies and regulations
Requirements
What you’ll need- 1+ years of customer service experience
- High School Diploma/GED required
- CRCR required within 6 months of hire (company paid)
- Must be inquisitive and open to innovation, including AI
- Must reside in and be authorized to work within the United States
- Must be able to work on-site at Adena Regional Medical Center
- Ability to perform admitting, registration, insurance verification, medical necessity screening, and point-of-service collection duties
- Ability to operate telephone switchboard and provide compassionate customer service
- Ability to accurately complete forms, audits, documentation, and data entry
