About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform admitting duties for all patients admitted for hospital services
  • Assign accurate medical record numbers (MRNs)
  • Complete medical necessity and compliance checks
  • Provide patient instructions and customer service
  • Collect and process insurance information and physician orders
  • Operate the telephone switchboard
  • Meet point-of-service collection goals
  • Use quality auditing and reporting systems to correct accounts
  • Conduct account audits and provide statistical data to Patient Access leadership
  • Pre-register patient accounts before visits
  • Make inbound and outbound calls to obtain demographic and insurance information
  • Collect patient financial liabilities, point-of-service collections, and past-due balances
  • Explain consent and patient education forms and obtain signatures
  • Review insurance eligibility and enter benefit data to support billing and clean claims
  • Screen medical necessity using ABN software and distribute required forms

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 1+ years of customer service experience
  • Must be inquisitive and open to innovation, including AI
  • High School Diploma/GED required
  • CRCR required within 9 months of hire (company paid)
  • Must reside and be authorized to work within the United States
  • Must be able to work onsite at RSFH - Berkeley Hospital in Summerville, SC
  • Ability to work full-time, 5:00am–2:30pm
  • Ability to perform duties in compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements
