About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform admitting duties for patients admitted for hospital services
- Assign accurate MRNs and complete medical necessity/compliance checks
- Provide patient instructions and collect insurance information
- Receive and process physician orders and use an overlay tool
- Operate the telephone switchboard and relay incoming, outgoing, and inter-office calls
- Meet point-of-service goals and provide excellent customer service
- Conduct account audits and use quality auditing/reporting systems
- Complete patient pre-registration and obtain demographic, insurance, and financial liability information
- Collect point-of-service collections and past-due balances, including payment plan options
- Explain consent forms, obtain signatures, and witness names
- Distribute patient education documents and required forms
- Review insurance eligibility responses, select insurance plan codes, and enter benefit data
- Screen medical necessity using ABN software and distribute/document required forms
Requirements
What you’ll need- 1+ years of customer service experience
- Must be inquisitive and demonstrate openness to innovation including AI
- High School Diploma/GED Required
- CRCR required within 6 months of hire (Company Paid)
- Must reside and be authorized to work within the United States
- Ability to work on-site at Carilion - Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, VA
