About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform admitting duties for patients admitted for hospital services
- Assign accurate medical record numbers and complete medical necessity/compliance checks
- Provide patient instructions and collect insurance information
- Receive and process physician orders
- Operate the telephone switchboard
- Conduct account audits and provide statistical data to Patient Access leadership
- Pre-register patient accounts and obtain demographic, insurance, and financial liability information
- Collect point-of-service collections and past-due balances, including payment plan options
- Explain consent and patient education forms, obtain signatures, and witness signatures
- Review insurance eligibility and enter benefit data to support collections and clean claims
- Screen medical necessity using ABN software and distribute required forms
Requirements
What you’ll need- 1+ years of customer service experience
- High School Diploma/GED required
- CRCR required within 9 months of hire; company paid
- Must be inquisitive and open to innovation, including AI
- Must reside and be authorized to work within the United States
- Ability to work onsite at Carilion-Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, Virginia
- Ability to perform regulatory compliance and patient access processes
