About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform admitting duties for all patients admitted for hospital services
  • Assign accurate medical record numbers (MRNs)
  • Complete medical necessity and compliance checks
  • Provide patient instructions and collect insurance information
  • Receive and process physician orders
  • Operate the telephone switchboard
  • Provide customer service and meet point-of-service goals
  • Use quality auditing and reporting systems to correct accounts
  • Conduct account audits and provide statistical data to Patient Access leadership
  • Pre-register patient accounts and obtain demographic, insurance, and financial liability information
  • Collect point-of-service collections and past-due balances, including payment plan options
  • Explain consent and patient education forms and obtain necessary signatures
  • Review insurance eligibility and enter benefit data to support collections and clean claims
  • Screen medical necessity using ABN software and distribute required forms

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 1+ years of customer service experience
  • Must be inquisitive and open to innovation, including AI
  • High School Diploma/GED required
  • CRCR required within 9 months of hire (company paid)
  • Must be able to work on-site at HSHS–St. Anthony's Hospital in Effingham, Illinois
  • Must reside and be authorized to work within the United States
  • Ability to work 7 am–7 pm three days a week or 10 am–10 pm three days a week
