Patient Access Specialist

About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform admitting duties for patients receiving hospital services
- Assign accurate medical record numbers and complete medical necessity and compliance checks
- Provide patient instructions and collect insurance information
- Receive and process physician orders
- Operate the telephone switchboard
- Provide compassionate customer service
- Meet assigned point-of-service collection goals
- Audit accounts, correct records, complete forms accurately and timely, and provide statistical data to Patient Access leadership
- Pre-register patient accounts and make inbound and outbound calls to obtain demographic and insurance information
- Collect point-of-service payments and past-due balances, including arranging payment plans
- Explain consent and patient education forms, obtain signatures, and document witnesses
- Review insurance eligibility, select insurance plan codes, and enter benefit data to support collections and clean claims
- Screen Medicare medical necessity using ABN software and distribute and document required forms
Requirements
What you’ll need- 1+ years of customer service experience
- High School Diploma/GED required
- CRCR required within 9 months of hire; company paid
- Must be inquisitive and open to innovation, including AI
- Must reside and be authorized to work within the United States
- Must be able to work on-site at Tower
- Ability to perform accurate patient registration, insurance verification, medical necessity screening, and payment collection tasks
